Virtual Fibre Event Schedule – Saturday Oct 17

As many probably already know, we decided to cancel our live Fibre Market on October 17. With Covid numbers rising and the provincial government asking folks not to travel from their homes areas, we felt that it was the most responsible decision to make. The silver lining is that we *KNEW* we would have folks join us from far and wide *smile* so it was our success that influenced our decision, which in a way is kind of awesome!

So, instead of a live market, we have moved online.

WAIT! Before you shrug, “Oh yet another online, can’t-squish-the-yarn event”, let us tell you a bit about what we’re doing 🙂

Rather than simply posting about each vendor in Spotlight posts (which we have done, and will do), we are also doing some other fun things! We will be peppering both our Instagram and Facebook accounts with posts and live streams throughout the day.

1) We are letting some of our vendors take over our Instagram account throughout the day so you are likely to see a lot of live feeds popping up as they take turns live streaming and sharing their products/farm/animals/process with you!

2) One of our organizers will be traveling to a few local farms to live stream on Facebook from there with the farmers to discuss what they do and what products they offer!

We are still scheduling things but it is slowly coming together and should be a fun day, so please pop online throughout the day on Saturday. Say hi to our vendors, ask them questions and enjoy the sharing!

Sept 12 Join us for a Micro Market Yarn Crawl!

Three fibre locations in West Hamilton to visit all in one day! All 20 minutes apart!!

The Hamilton Fibre Forge has been trying to come up with ways for our fibre community to get together, meet vendors, do a bit of networking….while still keeping everyone safe and maintaining social distancing and we think we have figured it out!

On August 23, we held a small micro market on a farm in St Ann’s Ontario with 6 vendors as an experiment and it was a smashing success! We had folks visit us from as far away as Markham, Orangeville and Niagara Falls.

By holding the event outside, keeping the number of vendors small and also asking vendors to keep their set ups small and simple, it allowed folks to maintain their social distance, while still having the opportunity to shop, buy some fibre & yarn, and visit alpacas!

Since that day was such a success, we are planning to expand the idea and do a couple more micro markets before it gets too cold to be outside.

Next up, September 12th 10-4PM in rural West Hamilton!

Three locations with multiple fibre and yarn vendors at each one!
1) Rampart Farm & Wool Mill
2391 Concession Rd 6 W, Branchton, ON N0B 1L0
2) On the Lamb Designs 1828 Concession 2 Rd W, Hamilton, ON
3) Angora Springs 1631 Old Hwy 99, Dundas, ON L9H 5E3

Vendor list for each site to be announced soon!

Hamilton Fibre Market – Postponed until 2021

Lucidpress

To Our Fibre Community,

The Hamilton Fibre Market had the dubious honour of being one of the first fibre events that was forced to postpone / cancel our event as a result of the early days of COVID-19. We took an optimistic chance at rescheduling to May 31, but now it looks like the reality of social distancing will impact that date as well. The committee decided today to cancel the event for 2020, and to look forward to remounting in 2021. .
BUT
.
We have booked Sunday, March 21, 2021 with @cottonfactoryca as our new date. Huge thanks for them for their amazing support!!!
.
AND
.
We are hoping to plan other smaller events later in the year if the situation allows. Details to come!
Also, we continue to post on social media, sharing our vendors products and posts, and we encourage all those who were planning to attend the event to visit their online shops and websites! Our vendors put a lot of time and money into preparing for the Hamilton Fibre Market as well as numerous other events that have been cancelled or postponed, so we encourage our attendees to continue with their planned purchases online! Check our vendor page over the coming days for updated links to their websites and shops, as well, follow our Instagram and Facebook pages for vendor info.
.
We thank you so much for your support and words of encouragement, and we look forward to connecting with you all on the other side of this challenging period.
.
Until then, we wish you all the best and will continue to be present online and on social media 💙
.

Hamilton Fibre Market – Postponed until May 31, 2020

Lucidpress

To Our Fibre Community,

This post is to inform you of the difficult decision we have made to postpone the Hamilton Fibre Market. In light of the rapidly changing COVID-19 global situation, we believe it is the socially responsible decision to make.

The committee discussed and agonized over this decision at great length over the last two days but given the situation, we have decided to act in what we perceive to be in the best interests of our vendors and our community at large.

POSTPONEMENT & NEW DATE

With huge thanks to the Cotton Factory, we are ableto announce a POSTPONEMENT and not a cancellation. We are pleased to let you know that the Hamilton Fibre Marketwill now take place May 31, 2020 in the same location, the Cotton Factory in Hamilton ON.

We know that this may not work for all our vendors and attendees but please know we are doing our best and we hope to see most of you in a couple of months.

We have received an outstanding response to our social media campaign and we know that both our vendors and our customer base are as disappointed as we are about this situation.

BUT

We will definitely be using the additional two months to keep the excitement up and get the word out even further!

We truly hope that all of you will want to and will be able to attend on the new date of May 31, 2020.

We are so sorry that the event will not take place as planned, we know that this decision has a huge impact on everyone but we really feel this was the best decision to make with the information we have.

Speaking of impact, we are going to continue to post on social media, sharing our vendors products and posts, and we encourage all those who were planning to attend the event to visit their online shops and websites! Many of our vendors have put a lot of time and money into preparing for the Hamilton Fibre Market as well as numerous other events that have been cancelled or postponed, so we encourage our attendees to continue with their planned purchases online! Check our vendor page over the coming days for updated links to their websites and shops, as well, follow our Instagram and Facebook pages for vendor info.

Thank you so much for the support that we have already received! Many vendors have already said they will be joining us on May 31 and we are so appreciative!! This fibre community is absolutely amazing!

Your Hamilton Fibre Forge Committee,
Mel, Amanda and Lorraine

Upcoming Event: Spin-In This Saturday!

Click on the image above to go to our FB Event listing!

As if we weren’t busy enough….vendor packages to send out, invoices to email, payments to collect, banking to do, social media to update….IT JUST ISN’T ENOUGH! *wink*

This Saturday The Cotton Factory is celebrating its 5th anniversary. From 6pm to 11pm on Saturday evening Jan 18th 2020 there will be art on display, artists showing their work, vendors on site, live music….all mainly on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Cotton Factory.

In addition to all the above, there will be us! We have been invited to host a spin-in event in the CoWork space on the third floor!

You can find our Facebook event here and it is on that page where we will be posting more detailed directions.

From 6pm to 9pm, we will be there and you are invited to come and join us! Spinning, knitting…all welcome!
We may also have some fibre and yarn for sale by some local indie dyers…plans in the works!

The space is accessible via both stairs and an elevator and one of the coolest things about attending is that you will get to see the space where we will be holding the Hamilton Fibre Market! The CoWork space is just next door so get a jump on everyone else: come out and see the space in person!
